Description
Adding fluids
To apply liquids to dry solids in a continuous flow process. The Mistcoater uses rotating discs to apply the liquid, instead of spray nozzles. The dried material is spun from a disc rotating at low RPM and falls in a 360-degree curtain around a second disc (or discs).
The liquid falls into the second disc (or discs) rotating at high RPM and is sprayed into a fine mist that is directed towards the surrounding curtain of the dried product. The unit is especially well suited for use with liquids containing suspended solids such as emulsions and liquids with a high percentage of sugar or salt, which tend to crystallize and clog spray nozzle systems. Units are sized for capacities between 7-170 cubic meters per hour.
The percentage of liquid that is applied depends on the porosity of the dry material and its ability to absorb the liquid. Units come complete with inlet and outlet flange openings, dry drive with timing belt / sprocket reduction, scraper liner chamber, single access door, liquid discs made of stainless steel with V-belt and support legs. Options include food grade and stainless steel construction, variable speed control for the dry disc, variable inlet on the dry disc with remote adjustment, stacked disc arrays for finer atomization and wider distribution.
Units can be integrated with our Continuous Mixers for greater mixing and product retention.
